SoulFLY Theatre Society presents: IN THE BLOOD by Suzan-Lori Parks. IN THE BLOOD is a modern day riff on the Scarlet Letter, IN THE BLOOD, tells the story of Hester, La Negrita a mother of five who is living with her children under a bridge in an inner city. Hester is trying to learn how to read, manage her life, and feed her children as she goes hungry. IN THE BLOOD challenges society’s contradictions when dealing with women and children head on. IN THE BLOOD is “A merciless and brutal drama, IN THE BLOOD offers at the same time a critical portrayal of the treadmill of poverty and a powerful allegory for the subjugation of African-American culture in an institutionally racist system.”
**10% of all ticket sales will be donated to House of Ruth, a non profit organization in Washington, DC dedicated to serving and supporting women, children, and families and ending homelessness.**
